Welcome my name is Clare-Marie, I want to start by saying it is perfectly natural to feel anxious about taking that first step in having counselling. To open up about your difficulties takes a lot of courage so please be rest assured I will do all I can to make you feel at ease by offering you a safe place to talk over your concerns.
Before I became a counsellor, I spent many years working in the care sector, this included working within palliative care, secure mental health units, elderly care, education learning disability centres etc. Through gaining this experience it became apparent how those who were struggling with everyday life really needed someone to listen to them in a safe non-judgmental empathetic environment which made me look at a career in counselling.
I have also been through various experiences in my own life that I feel has made me want to turn these experiences into positive ones by assisting those that are going through challenging times
I use a combination of ‘Cognitive Behavioural Therapy’, ‘Person Centred therapy’ and ‘Life Coaching’ but more importantly I go with what feels right for the client.
I am qualified to see children, adolescents, adults and couples and I have a fully enhanced DBS certificate.
In the first session I will go over the contract and the boundaries around it. I will explain to you about how I work and what school of counselling I will be offering. I will look at what you would hope to achieve from counselling and get to know more about you as a person by maybe asking some questions so I can get a clearer picture of your issues. We will work at a pace that suits you in order to help you feel relaxed in the counselling session.
I offer Long and short-term work, online through video call or by telephone. I am able to offer a free 15 minute video consultation for you to ask any questions and to see how I work.
