When you visit the ISPC website

The ISPC website uses Cookies. Cookies are small files that are stored on your computer when you visit a website. Cookies are used to store non personal data about you (for example, your geographical location, and IP address, as well as which of our webpages you’ve visited most. Cookies help to distinguish you from other users of my website. This helps the ISPC provide you with a good experience when you browse our website and also allows us to improve our site. If you choose to get in touch with us via our contact form, no cookies are stored, and your information is not stored on our website. Your enquiry goes through to us via email, and whilst we store this information so that we’re able to respond to your query and get in touch, we do not sell or share this information. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

Via email

When you enquire about our services via email we reply to you via email, we cannot guarantee that your email, or our reply is 100% secure. It is important that you understand that no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. If you wish to send us any documents via email and have any concerns about confidentiality and the data contained within your documents, we are happy for you to password protect your documents before sending them to The ISPC. You can either provide us with your password in a separate email, or phone us and provide us with your password over the phone.

Over the phone

If you choose to make contact asking for a return phone call, the ISPC may collect information from you as a means to contact you back.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Your Directory Listings are made public. Any information you share is open to the public, we do have security measures in place to act against fraud or spam. Should you wish to delete your account with us please get in touch with admin@ispc.org.uk.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Marketing

We publish ISPC information only, however, some testimonials from members both past and current have kindly given permission for their written testimonials to be read and made available on our website. Should anyone wish in the future any material available on our marketing sites, to be edited or removed, then please e-mail: registrar@ispc.org.uk

When we process your data

We process your data when we are have legitimate interests in forwarding the Society, while applying appropriate safeguards that protect your privacy. We process your information for website maintenance, to up keep the ISPC Directory and your Membership. We also use your information for things like:

  • Developing new products and features that are useful for our Members and Users
  • Understanding how people use our services to ensure and improve the performance of our services
  • Customising our services to provide you with a better user experience (and, if relevant, adapting the experience to be user-appropriate)
