I work in an Integrative way which just means I have bene trained to work with three different models of therapeutic intervention. CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) TA (Transactional Analysis) and Gestalt. A therapeutic session usually lasts for one hour. I can work with a range of common mental health conditions and trauma, but my special interest is GI (Gender Identity) and SO (Sexual Orientation).
I will soon be able to offer EMDR therapy also.
Before we start our work together, we will meet for an assessment, I will take some notes on what you might like to talk about in your sessions, some medical history but primarily to see if you would like to work with me.
There is a small charge for this, and it is £25.
One of the most frequently asked questions is, ‘How many sessions will I need to have, and how often?’ I won’t keep you in therapy for longer than you need. Sometimes for short term sessions dealing with the here and now problems it can be between 6-10 sessions. For longer pieces of work it could be anything from a few months to a year. Sessions are usually once a week for an hour. Some people can only make once a fortnight because of life commitments.
When you feel you are coming to the end of therapy you might like to come once a month to check in.
We can always have a conversation to see what suits you.
I also offer Clinical Supervision for counselling students, qualified counsellors and anyone who works F2F to support people. I also work with charities to support their staff teams.
These sessions usually last between 1 and 1.5 hours, the cost for this is £60 an hour.
