A personal interest in the benefits of therapy began for me back in 2005, and several years later I qualified as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. Over the the past 20 years I have worked in many therapeutic settings supporting people with a broad spectrum of concerns. I have come to understand through these interactions how challenges in our childhood and adolescence can shape unhelpful patterns of thoughts, beliefs and behaviours that no longer serve us in the here and now. Over time, my work has shown me that we don’t need labels to make sense of why we are the way we are, nor do they define who we can become; much like the saying ‘our past does not have to define our future’, I believe deeply in our innate capacity to move forward adopting new and better ways to live.
My practice is holistic, meaning I view each person as unique, shaped by their own experiences and histories in the stories they carry. No two people are the same and therapy should reflect that individuality.
While the journey into counselling can feel like a huge step to take I have seen through many clients that change is possible, and that we can move from feeling lost or stuck toward feeling more grounded, hopeful, and connected. Having a little hope is something…
There are many ways to deliver therapy yet, what matters most is having a confidential space to explore our worries and fears without judgement. In that space, together we can begin to understand what you need, who you are and look to regain a sense of possibility and move toward living the life you deserve. It is my role to support your needs and best interests, maybe with a little challenge here and there.
